Summer Breakfast Smoothies

Ok lets break down one of the EASIEST breakfast options out there.

The Smoothie.

The 3 minute wonder.

Goodness in a glass.

Whatever you call it, a smoothie is the fastest way to give your body a massive shot of nutrition and energy.

The Smoothie Must Haves:

1- Protein powder. Your protein powder should have around 25 grams of protein per serving.

2- 1/2 cup of frozen berries. Low in sugar these frozen fruits create a great texture and temperature for a Summer smoothie.

3- A good fat. Whether it’s chia seed, ground flax or a serving of Udo’s Oil your smoothie needs a dose of fat to keep the body fuelled and full of essential good fats which will boost metabolism.

4- Unsweetened Almond Milk or water: to help keep the smoothie in a drinkable format some form of non-dairy liquid is a good idea. Why non-dairy? Because protein powders have whey in them which is enough dairy for one meal.

Now, as long as you have above basics you can add other healthy items in also.

Great smoothie additions include:

A handful of spinach
Vitamin C powder
2 tablespoons of raw oatmeal
Coconut oil
Natural peanut butter

I have a vitamix which I LOVE…it completely annihilates everything in it. I have tried the Ninja and really think the Vitamix beat’s it hands down. The Vitamix is about $500 so definitely an investment….think about asking for one for Christmas.

Misty’s Main Squeeze Smoothie:

2 scoops AOR Advanced Protein Vanilla
1/2 cup frozen Mango
1 tablespoon coconut oil
1 cup u/s vanilla almond milk.
1 handful spinach.
