Ok today I am going to give you a workout hack. A little mindset trick that will make the hatred of burning muscles disappear for ever.
Ok, just imagine this….
You are working out to Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred, or maybe you are at the gym or maybe, if you are super smart, you are at 10,000 Strong Boot Camp in Whitby already (shameless plug)…
…and your trainer asks for a 1 minute of jump squats.
You start strong, the first 3 don’t burn. But, by squat 5 you can start to feel your quads complaining….20 seconds in and your ass and hamstrings are starting to ache.
30 seconds and your quads are full out screaming and by 45 seconds you want to quit so badly because the burning in your legs is consuming every fibre of your body.
Your trainer, trying to motivate you, says:
“OK GUYS..ONLY 10 MORE SECONDS TO GO”…
Now, here is where the workout hack comes in…
Instead of counting those 10 seconds out with your trainer and cursing every single second, I want you to start counting back from 20.
Start at 20 and count back down to 1.
Because you always achieve what you put your mind too. If you set the time at 20 seconds instead of 10 in your head, then you’ll be done the set before you even get to the end of your 20 second countdown.
As I said, your brain will focus on what you tell it to focus on. If you focus on the 10 seconds, it will ONLY give you 10 seconds of energy.
If however, you focus on 20 seconds of energy, if will dig deep and give you 20 seconds.
This will mean that you won’t have to hyper-focus on the burning quads, you won’t have to compete with self-defeating thoughts and…
It’ll make you a stronger person, faster.
